In preparation for the Art Gallery of Ontario’s Maharaja: The Splendor of India’s Royal Courts exhibit, I had the privilege to conduct two very interesting interviews, with three very interesting people.
Maharaja Yuvraj Saheb Mandhatasinhji of Rajkot spoke enthusiastically about the Star of India, a gorgeous custom made Rolls Royce that once belonged to his grandfather and is now rightfully back in his family’s possession. Resplendent in orange, the car’s color represents Hinduism and is an important symbol for India.
Maharaja Gala co-chairs Deepa Mehta and Laura Rapp were keen to share their excitement over this incredible exhibit opening November 20th in Toronto, which thanks to two very generous donations from Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. and Rogers Communications Inc., will be free for everyone under the age of 25.
Read all about this treasure of an exhibit and what Mandhatasinhji of Rajkot, Deepa Mehta and Laura Rapp have to say about it, coming soon on The Huffington Post.
